Western Angler web site. The Western Angler magazine is published bi-monthly, with very good articles and photos about Western Australian fishing. The web site's Fishing Forum gives people the chance to put their views in one of several categories. Articles in "Tackle and Tactics" and "Web Anglers" are sure to get some interest. The web site's "Newsroom" has articles from sources all over Australia, while "WAngler Comment" is the editorial page.

Fishing WA is a web site by Western Australian anglers for WA anglers. It has a lot of free pages, with articles, columns, fact sheets, videos and lots more. Subscriber get access to more pages updated more often. Check "Website Features" from the Fishing WA home page for all the details.

Fisheries WA is the Government agency managing Western Australia's commercial and recreational fisheries. Check the Recreational Fishing pages which have lots of information about species, rules, bag and size limits, licenses, special fish and special places, proposals for sharing fish resources between recreational and commercial fishers, etc.

The Department of Conservation and Land Management also has a responsibility for Marine Parks. Activities are outlined in the Marine Conservation Matters Newsletter which is published four times a year, and is available on their Marine Parks page. The plans mentioned in those newsletters affect recreational fishing, however they are usually only available by buying a printed version. Perhaps if enough people ask, these plans will be published on the web site.

Recfishwest was set up to represent Western Australia's many hundreds of thousands of recreational fishers. Recfishwest does a lot which is not publicised on their web site - some reports are published in the Western Angler magazine.

Australian Anglers Association (WA Division) Inc. Known affectionately or otherwise as "the Triple A", this group represents Western Australia's many thousands of club recreational fishers.

Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club PO Box 219, Mandurah WA 6210, Telephone (08) 9535 6251. The Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club is located within the new Ocean Marina on the picturesque Peel inlet. The club has a large membership base involved in competitive fishing, sailing and dragon boat racing. The facilities are first class with a large bar, restaurant area, dry pens and an extensive floating marina for boats of all sizes. The club welcomes new members both social and active.

Seabreeze.com.au has:-

Ocean Outlook has Swell and wind forecasts for the west and south coasts of Western Australia.

Bureau of Meteorology has many useful pages about the weather all over Australia. Some of these are:-
Latest synoptic chart, and predicted charts 12 and 24 hours ahead give an idea of the winds for that day.
Going fishing today or tomorrow - check WA Weather and Warnings or Perth local waters forecast and the latest synoptic chart
Current winds and temperatures for Perth metro sites are updated every 10 minutes in Perth current observations
Planning a fishing trip for the weekend - check extended period forecast for Western Australia's South West Land Division.
Four day forecast chart shows the predicted synoptic charts for four days - helps to predict what the winds and weather will be for the next few days. Don't forget the seasonal afternoon sea breezes!
Perth weather radar is updated every 10 minutes and shows rain in a radius of over 100km from Perth. Radars are also at Albany, Geraldton, Carnarvon, Learmonth, Dampier, Esperance, Port Hedland and Broome.

The Coastal Data Centre has:-
Near real time wave and swell heights from buoys at Cottesloe, Rottnest, Cape Naturaliste and Jurien Bay
"Coast cam" cameras updating every minute at Trigg south, Trigg north, Scarborough, Cottesloe and Swanbourne beaches.
tide predictions for many coastal places in WA.

A tide prediction page which covers more places and future years in WA is XTide -Tide predictions You can print out a month's or a year's tide predictions from this site - including sun rise and set times and moon phases.

West Australian Radio and TV Fishing Programs.
"Fishing", 6:10 AM Saturdays on ABC 720kHz and southern Regional stations. Presented by ABC's Sarah Knight and John Curtis
"Fishing WA", on Channel 9. Times and dates vary - check the Fishing WA website or TV program guides.
