So, another day, lots of fun, some lousy personal casting, a break from scoring, abandoned by Willo, a change in the scoring
procedures, lots of help clearing up and I can still say "what a great day".
To be able to stand back and participate with my fellow casters in each event and to watch individuals achieve success at
various events sure was enjoyable.
To observe Mal Harris put down some good casts, to watch a friendly rivalry between George, Chas and Nick, to see how John
Romano is improving, the huge grin on Col Lilburne's face when he got a good one away, Jimmy Strong getting over 100 metres at
80 years of age, new bloke Geoff Raftis improving rapidly, Vix's determination to get better and young Rhys and Andrew trying
their best.
But the best was still to come.
I heard on the grape vine that "AJ" had been getting some coaching from old "Roy the boy". Well it sure paid off when they both
went head-to-head in the double handed event and both came out the winners.
Strength, technique and accuracy proved Chas a winner in the 112 gram and artificial bait but George was not far behind. Rhys
Jones bullseye in the single handed event plus the better casting follow up proved him the winners over all of us.
I have to end by admitting that the old draught horse "Roy the boy" is still top dog. Keep it up Roy, the knackery is still open.
Keep it straight and long. Hendo.
