Club Rules.

The Club is an Incorporated body, managed by a Committee following the rules set out in the Club's Constitution. That's similar to most clubs, and is for legal reasons, tax, running the meetings, etc. Ordinary members don't have to worry too much about those details. But the details are all there if you need them.

The fishing and drycasting activities and competitions are run under a set of Competition Rules, (154 kilobyte PDF file) which give the details of what competitions are run and the rules for running them - all quite easy to follow. NOTE:- This version of the rules was prepared on 5 June 2006 but due to changes in committee members, was not placed on the Club website until 3 May 2009. Other changes have been made to the Competition Rules since 2006 but have not been written up for inclusion in this document or on the Club's website.

The Total Length Competition

A fishing competition (December to November) will be trialed in the 2008/9 year, and operate on an honour system, to help encourage more members [young and old] to take up the past-time on our Field Days

It is based on the TOTAL LENGTH of all live fish caught. All competitors participating in the Length Comp will be required to keep a written tally in centimetres on the Length of fish caught entry form (3 kilobyte pdf file) of ALL the fish caught on a Field Day irrespective of bag limit, species, size, toxicity, and edibility, bagged or released.

All fish are individually measured, no averaging will be allowed. The tally sheets will be submitted to the Field Day Officer at the weigh in .The winner for the month will receive a prize certificate of recognition at the next general meeting.

At the end of year Christmas party the senior and junior winner, the greatest total length accumulated for that year, will be announced and awarded a really terrific prize and/ or trophy!

Things that don't count are: dead fish, seaweed, crustaceans, molluscs, birds, old boots, shopping trolleys, flotsam and jetsam. Hopefully this competition will excite more kids to fish as blowies and small whiting will all be eligible and for all those "older" kids the rays that normally cause swearing will now add to the total tally!

As a side benefit, the club will have an accurate record of all species [number and size] caught on any of our Field Day venues, which may help with research and in deciding the merit of future Field Days.

An application form for the fishing competitions is available for download (9 kilobyte PDF file)

And we ask our members to follow the Club's Code of Ethics, which gives a guide to doing the right thing when fishing, traveling, camping, etc. Nothing too hard for you to do there, just things we are sure you would like everyone else to do too. Even though these are easy, they are very important.
