As I mentioned at the last casting day, the City of Stirling has asked for our cooperation to use the southern end of the Oval while the northern end is set up for the hockey group. Please be aware that I may set up the distance casting area well to the south if any prevailing winds occur so do a check before you park in the northern carpark.

Once again we had a good day but it ran a bit long. Congratulations go to all the section winners on the day, especially to Gary for a great effort in the double handed section. It was pleasing to see Mal joined the winners section again. "The Master" won the single handed open once again, and it was sheer luck that Chas shared the artificial bait section.

Have you ever heard the saying "bloody miracles do happen" - Yes in this club you quite often do.

Well as happened like this - Stokes was doing his thing (but with a bit more effort) when I heard a huge uproar coming from the senior's section. I turned around to see Stokes reeling in a ruddy great kicking and flapping fish from out in the Oval (actually about the 60 m mark). I was flabbergasted first of all to see Stokes actually catch a decent sized fish and secondly that 60 m distance. The buffoonery continued until I glanced out towards the middle of the Oval and saw all the answers - yes those two dastardly telly tubbies were at it again - need I mention names?

The A.G.M. has been and gone by the time you read this and you've got me to deal with again as Dry Casting Officer!

Remember - having fun is just as good as winning.

(Scoring for the vets was a bit slow at times because some of the 112 gram weights went nearly 300mm into the very soft ground - and getting them out with pliers took some time. A spade would have been useful - TF)
